Alva J. (Mowery) Lewis

Alva J. Lewis, age 68 of Lancaster, lost her battle to cancer and went home to the Lord on December 17, 2022.  Alva Retired from working in geriatric care. She never knew a stranger and if she knew you she loved you.  Anyone that knew Alva just knew they never had to worry about a thing, because she took care of everyone.  She was everyone’s mom, grandma, and best friend. Alva certainly leaves a legacy of love behind.  She is survived by her 4 children, Angela Hetzer, Dorsie (Madonna) Lewis III, Karen Lewis, and Trisha Cooper; 11 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; siblings, Kay Rollins, Jane Wentz, Andy Mowery, Danny Mowery, Henry (Sherry) Mowery, Becky Hart, Cathy Shull, Tina Hivey, Alice (Bill) Brewer, Lee Mowery, George (Rosi) Mowery and sister-in-law, Karen Mason.

Alva was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Dorsie Lewis Jr. Her parents Virgil and Alberta Mowery; parents-in-law Dorsie and Betty Lewis; brother, Bobby Lee Mowery; brothers-in-law, Keith Rollins, Dave Wentz, Barton Hart, Myron Hivey, Orville Lewis, Ricky Lewis and sisters-in-law, Virginia Friesner and Cindy Hedges.

A funeral service will take place on Friday, December 30th at 10AM at the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home officiated by chaplain Mark Perry.   Family and friends may call, Thursday Dec 29, from 2PM until 4PM and 6PM until 8PM at the funeral home.
