Celebrating the Life of Ann J. Wendt (nee Barkhurst)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ann J. Wendt, of Lancaster, Ohio, and formerly of El Paso, Texas, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She departed this life peacefully on October 7, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at Hospice – Pickering House, Lancaster, Ohio.
Born on June 9, 1936, in Portland, Oregon, to James and Clare Barkhurst, Ann grew up with a spirit of resilience and fierce independence and fearlessness.
Ann will be remembered for her adventurous spirit and love of new experiences. She traveled widely, leaving behind detailed journals and photo books to be enjoyed by all. Ann often shared memorable stories with her family and pursued hobbies such as caring for her kitties, traveling, reading, historical research and many other little hobbies. She truly made the most of her life and never wasted a moment.
Ann is survived by her children, Wendy Hubble (Edward) and Arthur LeVasseur; her grandchildren, Ashley Hubble; Joshua Hubble (Veronica), Trevor Hubble (Maxine) and Brianna Hunt (Sheldon) and eight great-grandchildren and dear friend, Laura Murray, as well as many other beloved relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Clare Barkhurst and her brother, David Barkhurst, as well as her husband, Dennis Wendt. Although they married late in life, her fourth husband, Dennis, was her lifelong companion and closest friend and they were fortunate to spend their final years together until his passing in 2018.
A Celebration of Life is being planned for a future date.
Caring Cremation® has taken place.
The family would like to thank the fine folks at Pickering House and the many nurses and doctors at Fairfield Medical Center for their support during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice – Pickering House, 282 Sells Rd. Lancaster, OH 43130, in her memory to aid that organization in continuing the fine and important work they do.
Ann will be deeply missed but will remain forever in our hearts.
