Bernard (Punk, Bud, Bernie) Paumier passed away on September 30, 2026. Born on a farm on July 30, 1928, in Louisville, Ohio, Bernard was the beloved son of Eustace and Matilda. He graduated from Louisville High School and joined the Army Air Corps in 1947.
While stationed in Roswell, New Mexico, he met and married the love of his life, Jane, on April 30. He joyously shared over 77 years of adventures and six children. After retiring from the Air Force, he went to The Ohio State University and, while still in college, embarked on a teaching career at Thornville Grade School, where he inspired countless young minds. While still teaching, he joined the Fairfield County Literacy Council, where he dedicated his time to helping adults learn English and achieve citizenship. His passion for teaching and his unwavering patience made him a beacon of hope for many.
Bernard was an active member of the community, participating in Toastmasters and the VFW. He was a sweet corn farmer who raised and sold the best around. Fishing and wood carving were his favorite pastimes, while his storytelling was legendary. His kindness and care for friends and family were hallmarks of his character, leaving a lasting impact on everyone he met.
Bernard leaves behind his sons, Daniel (Resha) and Thomas (Swan) Paumier; his daughter, Catherine (Frank) Domanski; his cherished grandchildren, Katrina, LaDonna, Barbie, Timmy, Becky, Matt, Alicia, and Joseph II. He was also blessed with the joy of nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jane; his brother Joseph (Rose) Paumier; sisters, Maurita (Dick) Mahon and Lorena; sons Michael and Joseph (Debra) Paumier, and daughter Suzanne (Mike) Woodside.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the Baltimore Emergency Squad, who showed unwavering support and care during Bernie and Jane’s final years.
