Berniece Sue Owens

Berniece Sue Owens, 80, of Carroll, passed away at the Fairfield Medical Center on July 16, 2026. She was born to the late Henry and Cynthia Brightwell on September 17, 1945.

She is survived by her children, Kemberly Hessler, Sherry (Fred) Hammond and Teresa (Michael) Francis; grandchildren, Jesse (Angela) Hammond, Johnathan (Savanna) Owens, Brooke (Austin) Howell and Zachery Hammond; great grandchildren, Abel Hammond, Evelyn Hammond, Sophia Owens, Athena Owens and Jaxson Howell; brother, Raymond (Eva) Brightwell; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John J. Owens; several brothers and sisters; and parents.

A funeral service officiated by Rev. Rick Jones will take place at 11 AM on Friday, July 24, 2026 at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 405 N Columbs St., Lancaster, OH 43130. Burial will follow in Carroll Cemetery, Carroll, OH. Family and friends may visit from 4-7 PM at the funeral home on Thursday.
