Betty J. Davis

Betty J. Davis, 78, went to be with the Lord on July 9, 2026 in Lancaster, Ohio. Betty was born on February 29, 1948 in Athens, Ohio to the late Fred and Helen (Wiseman) O’Nail, and graduated from Chauncey-Dover High School in 1966. Betty dedicated her early adult life to raising her two daughters. She cherished her time with them and was a loving mother. After her daughters grew into adulthood, Betty was able to use her heart for the elder generation and worked for 25 years as an activity aide at the Samaritan Center at the Lancaster Salvation Army. She followed that by caring for her aunt, Kate Wiseman, through Kate’s latter stages of life. One of the great joys of Betty’s life was being a wonderful Granny to her grandson, Caden.

Betty served the Lord at the First Church of God and was a dedicated member for over 45 years. Betty was involved in children’s church, bus ministry, the visitation team, was a consistent greeter, and never hesitated to serve the church wherever else needed.

Betty is survived by her daughters, Sheri (Matthew) Rice, and Kathy (Samuel) Ridenour; grandson, Caden Rice; sisters, Nancy Jackson and Anita Matheny; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Dan O’Nail, Terry O’Nail, and Fredricka Shover; and in-laws, Shirley O’Nail, Karen O’Nail, Charles Matheny, and Richard Jackson.

Per the wishes of the family, no funeral service will be held.
