William Ernest Drum passed away on August 4, 2026. He was born September 7, 1950, and raised in Rushville, Ohio. William graduated from Fairfield Union High School in 1968 and later made his home in Farmington Hills, Michigan, where he lived for 27 years.

In 1970, William joined the United States Marine Corps and served six years on active duty, working in radar and avionics. After his military service, he built a career as an installer and maintainer of electrical systems and in calibration. Throughout his career, he worked at Emerson, Honeywell, and Eaton, where he continued his work in calibration.

William spent several years as a contractor working overseas, including in Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi, where he met his wife, Rose. He also lived in Alaska, embracing the many experiences and opportunities that came with his work and travels. A lifelong learner, William enjoyed researching his family history. Genealogy was a passion of his. He loved going to the movies and had a deep interest in military aircraft technology. Above all, he cherished listening to his children share their thoughts and stories in conversation.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 35 years, Rosalie (Sañez) Drum; his children, Michelle (Rick) Pfeifer, Sean Drum, Rebecca Oettinger, Mark (Amadi) Drum, and Phillip Drum; his siblings, Susan Tooill, Tish Ferguson, and Tony Drum; 17 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

William was preceded in death by his parents, John and Eileen Drum; and his brothers, Dick and Dave Drum.

William will be remembered for his curiosity, love of family, and the quiet joy he found in learning, listening, and sharing life with those he loved.
