Billy Joe Thompson, age 79, of Lancaster, Ohio passed away peacefully at The Springs at Wyandot Trails on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.
Billy was born to the late Emmitt and Edna Thompson in McArthur, Ohio on May 23, 1946. He worked as a jack of all trades. From owning a furniture store called Buckeye Bills to working a few jobs at the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office such as an administrative assistant to Sheriff Peck and a deputy as well. Billy also worked as a detective in Fairfield County.
Billy was an avid Ohio State fan. He enjoyed putting puzzles together and spending time with the people he loved.
He is survived by his children, Pam (Earl) Jarvis and BJ (Laurissa) Thompson; grandchildren, Adam (Scarlet) Jarvis, Kristina (Noah) Thompson, Taylor Thompson, Luke Thompson, Haylee Shahan, and Keyan Shahan; great-granddaughters, Ella, Sadie, Meredith, and Hadley Jarvis; step-children, Dino (Tina) Frease, Chris (Tonia) Frease, and Sheri Frease; siblings, Art Thompson, and Libby Enisco; along with many nieces and nephews.
Billy is preceded in death by his wife, Jackie Thompson; parents; siblings, Mack Thompson, Frank Thompson, Sue Staten, Gene Kemerer, and JoAnn Carpenter.
Friends and family may visit on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 from 4PM to 6PM at FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 405 N. Columbus St. Lancaster, Ohio 43130. Caring Cremation® will follow.
