Bruce A. Raybourne

Bruce A. Raybourne, 79, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 8, 2026.

Born on June 30, 1947, in Lancaster, Ohio, Bruce was a lifelong Ohioan whose life was marked by service, dedication, faith, and love for his family. He graduated from Berne Union High School Class of 1965 and soon answered the call to serve his country.

Bruce proudly served on Active Duty in the United States Army from 1967 to 1970, followed by honorable service in the Ohio Army National Guard from 19XX to 19XX. His commitment to public service continued throughout his civilian career with the Ohio Department of Transportation, where he worked faithfully until his retirement.

Bruce was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Lancaster, Ohio. He found joy in life's simple pleasures, especially playing and watching golf. He was also an avid animal lover and had a special affection for cats throughout his life.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents Ruth (Rainville) and Robert Raybourne, and his brother, Leon Raybourne.

He leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory: his devoted wife of 55 years, Rebecca Raybourne; his son, Darren Raybourne (Michelle); his daughter, Kelly Raybourne; and his grandson, Peyton Raybourne. He is also remembered by extended family members, friends, fellow veterans, and neighbors whose lives he touched through his kindness, quiet strength, and unwavering dedication.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. in the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Lancaster, Ohio with burial to immediately follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Friends and family may visit on Wednesday, October 14, 2026 from 2-4 and 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
