Biography

Carl Robert “Bob” Rainier, 85, of Lancaster, formerly of Baltimore, passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2011. Bob was born March 10, 1926, in Baltimore, Ohio.

Bob was a 1944 graduate of Liberty Union High School. He was a home builder, farmer, and loved horses. Bob also enjoyed his trips to Sugarcreek and the Grand Ole Opry. He was an OSU Buckeye and Cincinnati Reds fan. He was a proud father and grandfather and will be missed by all.

Bob is survived by his son, Gary (Martha) Rainier; daughters, Penny (Ron) McDole and Sandra Rainier; sister, Alice Hoover; grandchildren, Chris (Weslie) Rainier, Danielle Finnefrock, Jennifer (Jared) Stanton, Carlie (Aaron) Crowell, Sara (Sam) Miller, Casey (Ashley) Rainier, Cassie (Kevin) Chase, and Carrie McDole; 17 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild and more on the way; and several nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Merle and Carrie Alice Rainier; Wanda Rainier; and daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Max Whitmer.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Saturday at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, Lancaster with Pastor Erladean Heffner officiating. Caring Cremation will follow. Friends may visit from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Friday at the funeral home. Burial to take place at a later date in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
