Lancaster

Carolyn J. Souslin, 87 of Lancaster, Ohio passed away on Friday, July 10, 2026. She was born in Wheeling, West Virgina on August 12, 1938 to the late Earl and Della Johnson.

Carolyn was the true example of a Proverbs 31 woman. She cared for her husband, Robert, of 24 years of marriage, until he proceeded her in death. She truly loved and cared for her three children, Pam (Albert), Steve (Jana) and Mark. Carolyn also had 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren. Following her husband’s death, she took on 2 jobs and learned to drive in order to provide for her children. She was employed by Holiday Inn and Lancaster Fairfield Hospital—at one point working both jobs simultaneously. She managed to provide balanced meals even when times were tough.

As Pam was preparing for marriage, she handed down the skills to provide for her husband and family, such as gardening and canning and taking several vacations to Myrtle Beach and Florida.

The compassion Carolyn showed to her family extended beyond people and touched the lives of countless animals as well. Carolyn loved cats and rescued too many to count. She will be missed.
