Catherine "Cathy" Miller

Catherine “Cathy” Miller, 73, died on Sunday, October 12, 2025 at the Pickering House after a long 5 year battle with cancer.

Cathy was a beloved figure in her community and had dedicated her life to service as a lunch lady and custodian at Berne Union Schools. She was not only passionate about serving people but also held a deep love for animals, particularly cats. Cathy found joy in crocheting and gardening, where she could cultivate beauty around her. Family was at the center of Cathy's life. She cherished spending time with her nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

She is survived by her sisters Mary (Russ) Fauble and Karen Miller; brother James “Jimmy” (Sandy) Miller; nieces Carrie (Brian) Ray, Tracie (Jeff) South, Mary Beth (Brad) Fauble, Tangie (Ally) Ayers, Jamie Fauble, and Katie Jo (Hank) Underwood; nephews Frank (Robertta) Underwood and Terry (Maria) Chandler; and great nieces and nephews Josie Maria, Giana "Gigi" Lee, Kaylee Jade, Haydon, Mayson, and Kyle (Fayth).

Cathy is preceded in death by her parents Millard and Betty Jo (Harshbarger) Miller; sisters Barbara Miller and Flora Ellis; and brother John Miller.

A funeral service officiated by Chaplin Naomi Golter will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025 at 12 noon, in the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home, 405 N. Columbus St. Lancaster, OH 43130. Family and friends may visit 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Stukey Cemetery.
