It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Charles Eversole on Friday, May 30, 2025, at the age of 94. A steadfast pillar of the Eversole family and a beloved member of his community, Charlie leaves behind a legacy of integrity, hard work, and a life devoted to family and service.
Born on January 24, 1931, Charlie was a lifelong resident of the Carroll and Lancaster communities. He shared 70 wonderful years of marriage with his devoted wife, Diane. Together, they built a life rooted in love, family, and community involvement.
Charlie wore many hats over the course of his long and fulfilling life. He farmed side by side with his brother, Gene, for more than sixty years. A dedicated volunteer, he gave countless hours to the Fairfield County Heritage Association, always with Diane by his side. He served on the CBI Board of Directors for 28 years, eventually passing the baton to his eldest son, Steve, to carry on the work. Charlie also contributed to the community as a 4-H leader and as a member of the Bloom-Carroll Board of Education for twelve years.
A proud alumnus of Carroll High School, Charlie played basketball and continued until almost age 30. He remained a lifelong fan of the game, especially enjoyed watching his son Eric and his grandsons play, finding joy in seeing his passion for basketball live on through them.
Later in life, Charlie pursued his talent for metal sculpture, creating beautiful pieces that now grace public spaces. His work includes the “Hands of Healing” sculpture in the chapel at Fairfield Medical Center, a butterfly bench and animal sculptures in the hospital’s tranquility garden, and “Hands of Faith – Seeking the Eternal” at the Kimes Chapel in Reynoldsburg.
Above all, Charlie was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He and Diane raised two sons, Steve, who lives in the Lancaster area with his wife Denise, and Eric, who resides in Seattle, Washington, with his wife Suzanna. Both sons followed in their father’s footsteps as business owners and active members of their communities.
Charlie and Diane shared a love of travel, enjoying adventures across the United States and Europe with friends and treasured many family vacations that created lasting memories.
Charlie is survived by his beloved wife Diane; sons Steve (Denise) and Eric (Suzanna); five grandchildren, Alex (Jamie), Clint, Kara, Garrett, and Colin; two great-grandchildren, Theo and Jojo; and his older brother, Gene. Though his passing leaves a space in our hearts, we are forever grateful for the love, wisdom, and example he gave us all.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 9, 2025 at The First United Methodist Church, 163 E. Wheeling St., Lancaster, Ohio 43130 with Rev. Nikki Baker officiating, followed by burial at Carroll Cemetery.
