Dan P. Hock, age 65, a beloved figure whose life was marked by creativity and passion, passed away on June 27, 2025, at Fairfield Medical Center. Born on January 2, 1960, in Portsmouth, Ohio, Dan's journey through life was filled with an unwavering commitment to his work and his garden.
Dan began his career at Achor Hocking, where he laid the foundation for a lifetime of hard work and dedication. He later ventured into running his own trucking power wash business, but it was his time at Fairfield Woodworking that he cherished the most. There, he had the joy of creating beautiful wooden cabinets and other wooden designs. In every piece he crafted, Dan imbued his signature touch, a reflection of his love for woodworking and his meticulous attention to detail.
A man of extraordinary talents, Dan was known for having two green thumbs. It was a marvel to all how he could coax life from the earth; his tomato plants grew taller than most people, earning him the admiration of friends and family alike. His garden was not just a place of growth, but a sanctuary where he found solace while working the soil, nurturing each plant with dedication and care.
Honesty was a cornerstone of Dan’s character; he was known to be honest to a fault. This quality was well known to those who knew him, making him a trusted friend and a reliable sibling. He forged deep bonds with his siblings—Michael (Pam) Hock, Larry Hock, Kathleen (David) Adkison, and Linda (Fred) Davidson. For over 25 years, Dan lived with his brother Michael, creating countless memories that will forever be cherished. He took immense pride in being an uncle to several nieces and nephews, showering them with support and his opinions.
The family is especially grateful to the staff at the ICU at Fairfield Medical Center, whose compassion and care provided comfort during Dan’s final moments.
Dan’s wishes for cremation and no viewing reflect his humble spirit, and plans for a memorial service to honor his life will be announced at a later date. Though he may have departed from our physical world, the beauty of his creations, his personality, and the depth of his love of life will continue to echo in the hearts of all who knew him.
