David Edward Cook, Sr., 85, passed away peacefully in late January of 2026 at his home in Baltimore, Ohio. Born in 1940, in Columbus to the late Paul Daniel and Myrtle Ruth (Hauck) Cook, David lived a life defined by his gentle spirit and an enduring curiosity about the world.
A 1958 graduate of Eastmoor High School, David was a lifelong learner who believed it was never too late to pursue a calling. Later in life, he returned to his studies with great dedication, earning a Bachelor’s degree from Capital University and a Master of Social Work from The Ohio State University. He found deep fulfillment in serving others, offering his time and compassion to the community through Al-Anon, White Bison, Parents Without Partners, and many other organizations. He will be remembered for his kindness and his unwavering desire to help those in need.
David’s legacy of love lives on through his sons, Craig (Heidi) Cook and Daniel (Lore) Cook; his seven grandchildren; and his six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Albert “Pat” (Sharon) Cook, and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, David Cook, II, and his brother, Paul “Pete” Cook, II.
Family and friends are invited to gather and share memories at a celebration of life at his property on April 26th at 2 pm.
