It is with great love that we remember Donald Joseph Cox, 74, of Lancaster who passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2025. From dubbing himself the favorite child, to being the proud grandfather of nine, Don’s witty and sarcastic personality was infectious to all who knew him.
Don enjoyed golfing on any day that ended in “y”, laughing inappropriately at every opportunity, and socializing with friends with a Michelob Ultra close by. His deep belly laugh and jokes that made people question how a person could come up with such humor will be insanely missed. His tenure as a respected real estate broker in the Central Ohio area is one of his greatest achievements. Ultimately, he cherished his relationships with people the most as he knew life was precious and meant to be enjoyed.
Don was preceded in death by his wife, Connie Cox; father, Joe Cox; mother, Ernestine Cox and brother Gerry Cox. His daughters, Sarah Waites, Abbey (Tim) Bolin, Brooke (Steve) Kondash and Lindsay (Mark) Love are grateful to Don and his wife Connie for uniting their two families together. His nine grandchildren (Cooper, Cameron, Callie, Chase, Air, Jackson, Jacob, Mason and Olive) brought so much pride and joy into his life. He also has many surviving aunts/uncles, nieces/nephews and cousins. His best friend, Dave Kraft, will forever save Don a seat at the bar while singing, “Young Love”.
Friends are welcome to come honor Don’s legacy at Frank E. Smith Funeral Home in Lancaster on Monday, July 28th from 2-4pm, 6-8pm or Tuesday, July 29th at 10am. In true Don fashion, a lighthearted service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 29th at 11am. Burial service will immediately follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Lancaster.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Don’s memory to the Pleasantville Elementary PTO, a non-profit organization that Don loved to support for his daughters’ and grandchildren’s school district. Please make checks payable to Pleasantville Elementary PTO and mail them to 300 West Columbus Street, Pleasantville, Ohio 43148 or visit the Friendly Bremen Bank branches to make a donation.
Everyone who remembers him is asked to celebrate Don’s life in their own way; however, raising a glass of their favorite drink would be quite appropriate.
