Biography

Dorothy M. Shanks, 87, Lancaster, formerly of Baltimore, passed away on Friday, August 10, 2012 at Lanfair Center.

Dorothy was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, where she was a former Sunday School teacher, member of the United Methodist Women, and member of the Berean Sunday School Class.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Russell (Phyllis) Shanks, Jr.; daughters, Regina (Don) Bowen and Heidi Jo (David) Jenkins; 11 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her friends and family at Lanfair Center.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Russell Shanks in 1990; son, Charles “Butch” Shanks; granddaughter, Amy Shanks; parents, Charles and Bertha Golden; and 12 brothers and sisters.

Funeral service for Dorothy will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday at Christ United Methodist Church, 700 S Main St, Baltimore, Ohio 43105 with Reverend Alice Wolfe officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens, Lancaster. Friends may visit from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Tuesday at the JOHNSON-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 207 S Main St, Baltimore and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Donations may be made to the Johnson-Smith Funeral Home for a memorial fund in Dorothy’s honor to bring joy and good deeds to other seniors in assisted living.
