Douglas Edward Downhour

Douglas Edward Downhour, 68, of Lancaster, passed away surrounded by his loving family on November 27, 2022 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. He was born to the late Richard Downhour and Genevieve “Jean” Knepper-Kilbarger on May 1, 1954 in Lancaster, OH.

Doug was a 1973 graduate of Lancaster High School. He was retired and had worked for Lancaster Glass and Conn’s Potato Chip Company. He enjoyed country music, working on cars, riding his Harley, family get togethers, spending most of his time outdoors, and of course, coffee. Doug was a member of the American Legion Post 11 in Lancaster.

He is survived by his children, Jason Downhour, Crystal (JC) Downhour, Justin (Penny) Downhour, and Brandie (Matt) Chambers; granddaughter, Addison Chambers; siblings, Donald (Linda) Downhour, Sharon (Don) Ogg, Linda (Mike) Huber, Jerry Downhour, Kenneth Downhour, and Rose (Don) McCoy; ex-wife, Bonnie Yenrick-Downhour; good friend, Ron Huffer; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

A funeral service will take place at 12 PM on Friday, December 2, 2022 in the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 405 N. Columbus St., Lancaster, OH 43130. Pastor Jim Vanover officiating. Family and friends may visit from 10 AM until the time of the service on Friday. Burial will take place in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
