Ernest James "EJ" Morris, 95, died on Monday, August 17, 2026 at Primrose Memory Care.
He was born April 12, 1931 in Whitaker, PA to the late James Thomas and Rosina (Casper) Morris.
Ernie’s commitment to service began early in his life. As a Sergeant in the US Army during the Korean War, he proudly served his country, working in the radio room in Panama. He carried out his duties with discipline and honor, further exemplified by his special role in the color guard for Queen Elizabeth.
Ernie distinguished himself as a leader in the field of finance, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues and all who worked alongside him. His expertise and integrity laid the foundation for many successes within the industry, and his thoughtful guidance inspired those around him to reach new heights.
Outside of work, Ernie found deep satisfaction in his hobbies and interests. He was an avid sports enthusiast, with a particular love for softball and baseball, and he followed the Pittsburgh Steelers passionately. Saturdays often found Ernie sharing his knowledge and love of cars—especially vintage models—as he sold cars, blending business with his appreciation for the classics. Golf was another pastime that brought him both challenge and camaraderie.
Ernie is survived by his wife of 74 years Dorris Mae (Lanchester) Morris; children William Thomas (Carole) Morris and Bonnie Sue (Robert) Hetterscheidt; grandchildren Daniel (Stephanie) Morris, Amy Morris, Stacey (Tyler) Hamilton, Kelsey (Dave) Burgett, Stephanie (Adrian) Nash, and Rebecca Plute; and 12 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his daughter Carol Ann Detwiler; parents; and brother James Joseph “Rusty” Morris.
