Evelyn (Konkler) Gothard

With hearts full of gratitude and sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Evelyn (Konkler) Gothard, 88 with her family by her side on Sunday, May 31, 2026 at the Pickering House in Lancaster, Ohio. She was born on September 9, 1937 in Lancaster, Ohio to the late Lawrence and Lucille Konkler.

Evelyn loved her family and enjoyed motorhome traveling and vacations at the lake. She loved music, dancing, pets, and Euchre. She was a member of The Basilica of St. Mary Catholic Church where she participated in the church, school and sports activities with her children and grandchildren.

Evelyn spent time loving her grandchildren by playing cards, introducing them to coloring books and offering care and guidance. She will be greatly missed.

A woman of extraordinary faith, love, strength and grace. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, proud mom, supportive grandma, doting great grandma and a generous friend to many.

She is survived by her children George Gothard of Lancaster, Melissa Gothard of Nelsonville, Mary Clark and Melanie Gothard both of Lancaster; grandchildren Joseph Gothard, Matthew Clark, Jonathan (Niki) Jones, Jennifer Gothard and Jacob (Jessica) Gothard; great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and close friends Mark Woods and Lorah Murdock.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband Lowell Gothard, parents, brothers and sister-in-law Lawrence “Pete” (Mary Kay) Konkler and Lester Konkler and sister Margaret Kessler.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, June 8, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at The Basilica of St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. Craig R. Eilerman as Celebrant. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may visit Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, LANCASTER, OHIO.
