Frank Eugene Hutchins, born on August 2, 1954, in a world that would soon know of his generous spirit and straightforward nature, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2026. After dedicating over thirty years to the maintenance department at OU-L, Frank embraced retirement with the same zeal he applied to his work. He was a man who believed in hard work and the importance of family, values instilled by his beloved parents, Emmitt and Pauline Hutchins.
Those who knew Frank understood his unwavering dedication to his family. He loved immensely and was always willing to lend a helping hand. His bond with his mother was particularly strong, and he held an innate ability to make everyone feel supported. In the eyes of his loved ones, Frank was more than just a relative; he was a steadfast presence, the first one to step in whenever anyone needed assistance.
Frank’s personality was as vibrant as it was sincere. He had a great heart, always offering a piece of candy to the children around him, treating them with a kindness that made him a favorite among young ones. At the same time, he was known for his candidness—Frank was a straight shooter who valued honesty above all. He could lighten a room with gentle teasing yet also ensure everyone knew where they stood with him.
His love for adventure was evident in his fondness for Las Vegas, where he enjoyed the thrill of the slots, and his trips to Florida with his parents, which were marked by joy and laughter. Frank had a great appreciation for playing cards with his twin brother, Fred, who predeceased him, and he cherished the memories of their games. He took pride in knowing countless facts and loved the excitement of horse races, maintaining a playful limit of $50 for any gambling outing.
Frank leaves behind a loving family who will miss him dearly. He is survived by his brother, Chuck (Wendy) Hutchins; sister-in-law, RoseMary Hutchins; nephews Trent Hutchins and Barry (Vivian) Hutchins; and niece Rene (Michael) Butler, along with several other nieces, nephews, and family members who were touched by his warmth and spirit.
Though he has been reunited with his parents and his brother Fred, Frank's legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty will resonate through the hearts of those he leaves behind. His proudest accomplishment was undoubtedly his family, a testament to the love and dedication he poured into every relationship. Frank Eugene Hutchins may have departed from this world, but his great heart and enduring spirit will remain forever etched in the memories of all who knew him.
Caring Cremation has taken place through the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home. He will be interred at the Niche Mausoleum at Forest Rose Cemetery in Lancaster with his brother Fred. Online condolences can be made at www.funeralhome.com
