Frederick G. McClung

Frederick G. McClung, 90, died Wednesday, August 12, 2026 at the Pickering House.

Fred was born in Sutton, West Virginia May 2, 1936 to the late James and Rosetta (Bennett) McClung. He worked for Western and Southern Insurance for over 30 years. Fred enjoyed camping, and going on fishing trips in Canada. He was good with his hands, whether it was crocheting or remodeling, Fred could make something out of nothing. Most of all Fred cherished the time he spent with his family.

Fred is survived by his children Pamela (Rick) Arthur, Kim (Doug) Shonk, Frederick (Lisa) McClung II, and Troy (Michele) McClung; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years Eileen M. McClung; daughter Patricia Burgoon; granddaughter Jillian Burgoon; his parents; and siblings Jim, Maggie, Linda, Audrey, Gary, Scott, and Chuck.

Family and friends may visit Monday, August 17, 2026 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM and 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home, 405 N. Columbus St. Lancaster, OH 43130. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at 10:30 AM in the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Lancaster.
