George Franklin (Frankie) Burnside Jr., age 66 of Lancaster, Ohio suddenly went to be with his Lord and Savior on Christmas Day 2025.
George Franklin (Frankie) Burnside was born October 26, 1959 in Lancaster, Ohio, the son of George Franklin Burnside Sr. and Barbara Jean (McAfee) Burnside.
After 9 years starting a home together, George and Susan Diane (Wogan) Burnside were married on March 20, 2000 at Fairfield Community Church with Clergy officiating. George and Diane celebrated their 25th Silver Wedding Anniversary this past March.
George graduated from Lancaster High School in 1978 after which he joined Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 189 as an apprentice. He worked hard as an apprentice, then became a journeyman. He worked often with his uncles, Bill, Roger, and Mike McAfee and also with his cousin, Steve McAfee. He loved his job. He loved the Union he was with. He was a very skilled welder.
George especially loved Golf (near par golfer), bowling (so many perfect games), football (played for Lancaster High School), and got his grandson, Josh Figgins, to start football, following him for three years…..he enjoyed OSU Football, OSU Basketball, and then his forever team the Browns.
George was a member of First Presbyterian Church. George supported Animal Rescue Groups for years. He and Diane spoke before the Ohio Senate advocating for the removal of high volume breeders known as puppy mills. As a result, Goddard’s Law was created in Ohio to protect comfort pets, something Frank was so proud of being a part of.
Remaining to cherish George’s memory are his beloved wife Susan Diane; son, Chadd A Burnside, step sons Jason Figgins, Joseph Figgins; grandchildren; Quentin Figgins, Joshua Figgins, Ryan Loughman and Savannah Loughman; Mother, Barbara J Burnside; sister, Cynthia (Cyndi) Burnside Schmelzer; nieces Megan Schmelzer, Rebecca (Justin) Miller, (Ellie, Brian and Ariel Miller) and nephews Noah Schmelzer and Ethan Schmelzer; aunts, uncles and many cousins.
Also his loved lil Bailey, Daisy, Allie and Bella.
Preceding George in death was his father, George Franklin Burnside, Sr.
A celebration of life will be held in the Spring. Additional information TBA
