Grant Wesley Welch, Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2025, at the age of 63. Born on October 5, 1962, in Lancaster, Ohio, Grant spent his life as a dedicated family man, retired welder, and a vibrant member of his community.
After a fulfilling career at Prestress Concrete Services, where he retired in 2013, Grant took great pride in seeing the I Beams he had worked on supporting overpasses across the state and beyond. His craftsmanship served as a testament to his work ethic and commitment, values he instilled in those around him.
Grant’s heart was full of love for his family, especially his grandchildren. He was one of the most engaged grandparents imaginable, never missing a sport activity or concert. Driven by the memory of his own grandfather, who passed away when he was very young, Grant was determined to be a steadfast presence in the lives of his grandchildren. Even during times of illness, he would watch their activities online, always finding a way to cheer them on and remind them how proud he was of their accomplishments.
Grant's generous spirit extended beyond his family. Known for his kindness and dedication to helping others, he often volunteered at the food pantry on Saturdays at Connexion West. He had a special place in his heart for the homeless, frequently giving out coffee and providing support to those in need. Grant truly believed in giving back to the community and made a tangible difference in the lives of many.
He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Lori Welch; his sons, Grant Wesley Welch Jr. and Chris (Reva) Welch; grandchildren McKenzie, McKayla, Wyatt, and Keaton Welch, Madison Clarkson, and Isaiah Antill; his sister Anna (Jeff) Miller; and his cherished nieces and nephews, Ashley Miller, Dylan Newell, Jacob Newell, and Amber (Ben) Isham.
Grant was preceded in death by his parents, Maryland (Raymond) Short, and his brother Todd Welch. While he has left this world, the love and memories he shared will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him. His legacy of kindness and unwavering support for family and friends will continue to inspire those he touched.
