Hugh O. Schaffner

Hugh O. Schaffner, of Reynoldsburg and formerly of Baltimore, passed away on August 21, 2025. He was born to the late Russell and Helen Schaffner on February 15, 1938.

Hugh worked for OBES for over 25 years, 26 years for the Baltimore Fire Department-10 of those years as Fire Chief, and was a town administrator for 10 years. He was also a member of the Lions Club, Masons, and Shriners.

He is survived by his sons, Steve (Dawn) Schaffner and Jeff (Anne) Schaffner; grandchildren, Sarah (Charles) Reissig, Jacob, Charlie, Addison, and Grant Schaffner; great grandchildren, Fiona and Piper Reissig; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Schaffner; sister, Margaret Jean Higgins (Schaffner); brothers, Richard, Jack and David Schaffner; and parents.

Visitation will take place on Friday, August 29, 2025 from 1-3 PM at the JOHNSON-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 207 S Main St., Baltimore, OH 43105. A private burial will take place after the visitation.
