James Curtis George

James Curtis “Curt” George, 89, of Lancaster, passed away on August 8, 2025 at the Fairfield Medical Center. He was born in Fairfield County on November 16, 1935 to the late Carl and Fannie George.

Curt was a beloved teacher and coach and was instrumental in implementing both the youth and high school soccer programs in Lancaster. He loved playing music with his friends at church and spending time with the Lancaster Old Car Club.

Curt is survived by his wife, Marilyn Cunningham; son, Jim (Melissa) George; daughter, Shauna George; grandchildren, Hayden, Libby and Sydney George; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty; his siblings, Evelyn, Della, Dick and Bill; and parents.

A funeral service officiated by pastor Steve Rauch will take place on August 13, 2025 at 10 AM at the Pleasant Chapel Church of God, 3225 Old Mill Rd NE, Lancaster, OH 43130. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Church Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the church on Tuesday from 5-8 PM.
