James L. Koska

Lancaster - James L. Koska, 93, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, May 28, 2025.

James was born on May 16, 1932 in Lancaster, Ohio. James built a successful career in welding. A proud veteran, James served his country honorably in the United States Navy for four years, and nine years in the United States Army. In addition to his professional and patriotic pursuits, James had a rich personal life filled with varied interests. He enjoyed golfing and gardening, and riding his motorcycle even in the winter. His strong faith served as a compass, guiding him through life.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Joann (Ridenour) Koska; children Dennis Koska, Dan Koska, and Sheila Young; 7 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and brother William T. Koska, Jr.

James is preceded in death by his parents William T. Koska, Sr. and Grace Koska; biological parents Samuel Preston Deeds and Mamie Viola Deeds; and brothers Carl Deeds and John Deeds.

Caring Cremation® has taken place through the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home.

A graveside service with military honors will be held in Maple Grove Cemetery, Lancaster to be announced at a later date.
