James E. Shadd family tragically and suddenly lost a husband, father and grandfather at age 65. He was of Lancaster, Ohio.
He was a retired Master Volkswagen Technician and later worked as an aircraft mechanic for Fairfield Aircraft Services. Jim was a private pilot, avid record collector, antique collector of many special items including clocks, cars, Victrolas, electronics, and the list goes on but cannot be put into words. He had a love of history and he was known for an endless knowledge based of how things worked.
Jim is survived by his wife of 42 years, Rhonda Shadd; daughter, Autumn (Harold) Butler of Connecticut: sons, James (Jessica) Shadd of Lancaster and Derek (Brooke Combs) Shadd of Pickerington; grandchildren, Cameron, Dylan, Ella, James, Tucker and Ariston; father, Howard Shadd of Massachusetts; brothers, Ed (Sandra) Shadd of Tennessee, Jon Shadd and Garrett Shadd both of Massachusetts; sisters, Kathryn (Rick) Mancuso of Massachusetts and Pat Frank of Kansas and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Shadd and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Constance and Robert Green.
Funeral service will be held Friday, January 27, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. in the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 405 N. COLUMBUS ST., LANCASTER, OHIO 43130 with Pastor Vance Tope officiating. A live broadcast of the funeral service will be hosted on Friday, January 27, 2023 at 1:00 PM. on the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home and Crematory Facebook page. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Lancaster, Ohio. Friends may visit Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
There will be a Celebration of Life with food and drinks following the burial at the Historical Aircraft Squadron Museum at the Fairfield County Airport. The family asks to come out and tell all your stories about Jim while viewing some of his favorite airplanes and looking at his beloved 1963 Volkswagen Beetle.
