John W. Ridenour

Lancaster - John W. Ridenour, 74, went to be with the Lord on March 31, 2023 at Buckeye Care and Rehab after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

John graduated from Berne Union High School in 1967. He served in the US Army Special Forces.

John is survived by his wife Mary Elizabeth (Finck) Ridenour; children Sarah Elizabeth (Clarence) Ridenour-Chapman, Samuel William (Kathy) Ridenour, Andrew Charles Ridenour, Elizabeth A. (Jon) Copen, and Anne Elizabeth (Patrick) Young; grandchildren Kaitlynn and Colin Seymour, William Z. Ridenour, Matthew and Marcus Copen, and 5 step grandchildren; sister Rebecca North; and sister in law Diane Ridenour.

He is preceded in death by his parents William S. and Ester M. (Snider) Ridenour; brother James Phillip Ridenour; and 2 grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held at Frank E. Smith Funeral Home, 405 N. Columbus St. Lancaster, OH, Tuesday, April 4, 2023 6:00-8:00 PM. Funeral service will be Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home Chapel. Burial to follow in Stukey Cemetery.
