Jonathan E. Burgoon

Jonathan Edward Burgoon 97 of Lancaster passed away Saturday, December 10, 2022 at home. He was born March 14, 1925 to the late Edward and Christina (Harris) Burgoon.

Jonathan was a retired heat treat operator for Anchor Hocking Glass Corp. with over 44 years of service than later worked 15 years at River Valley Mall in Maintenance.

Jonathan served in the US Navy during WWII in the South Pacific on the USS Bagley DD 386 shortly after the attack on Pearl Harbor. He then served in the Navy Reserves and Army Reserves obtaining the rank of Sergeant. He was a great cook for family and cooked many meals at the American Legion Post 11.

Jonathan was a life member of the American Legion Post 11, 40 & 8 498, Amvets 1965, Cooties PT80, VFW Post 1380, member of the Loyal Order of Moose 955 for 44 years, and Olivedale Senior Citizens Center.

He was a beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Great-Great Grandfather, Brother, Uncle and Friend who will be greatly missed.

Jonathan is survived by daughters Donna (Larry) Sinift, Wilma “Kay” (Leo) Strawn, Linda Burgoon, and Jonni Burgoon, grandchildren Shari (John) McGee, Timothy (Gina) Sinift, Tracy (John) Lamb, Kimberly Hamilton, Jennifer Alspaugh, Paul David Burgoon, Terry Wayne (Holly Lama) Hancher Jr., Terry Alex (Jody) Burgoon, Steven Aneshansley, Jessi (AJ) Andrews, 22 great grandchildren, 15 great-great grandchildren, sister Nancy Cox and brother Charles (Linda) Burgoon, many nieces and nephews, His Boys Max, Steve, John and Dennis, many friends, and his four legged companions Baby and Jack.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of over 49 years Wanda Burgoon, daughters Mary Ann, and Jo Anna Burgoon, grandchildren, Cynthia Ann Clary, Tonda Lee Burgoon, Larry Lee Sinift Jr, Myranda Kay Schorr, and Austin Michael Crist, brother Elmer (Rose) Burgoon, brother-in-law Larry Cox, and second wife Mona Burgoon.

Funeral Services will be at on Thursday, December 15, 20202 at 1:00 p.m. at FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 405 N. COLUMBUS ST., LANCASTER, OHIO 43130 with Larry Sinift officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Rose Cemetery with the Lancaster Veterans Burial Detail conducting military rites at the cemetery.  Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM and 1 hour prior to service. The family would like to thank Fairhope Hospice and the Boys for their love and care of our dad.
