Kathryn Gillogly

Kathryn H. (Burson) Gillogly, formerly of Columbus passed away Sunday, May 8, 2011 at Fairfield Medical Center in Lancaster at the age of 95. She was a resident of The Inn at Fairfield Village in Lancaster. She was born on Sept. 15, 1915 at Pratts Fork, Ohio the daughter of the late Ralph E. and Carrie E. Burson . Her sister, Flossie, preceded her in death.

She is survived by her loving husband of 73 years, Paul M. Gillogly, and her sister, Doris Ferry of Michigan. Also survived by her four children, Paula Helsel of Athens, Carl (Marie) Gillogly of Columbus, Alice (Rick) Dupler of Lancaster, and Anita (Dennis) Dudley of Falmouth, VA. She has four grandsons Philip Gillogly, Chris (Erin) Gillogly, Jakoma Dudley, and Josh Dudley. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

During WWII she packed parachutes at Selfridge Air Base in Michigan. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family, as well as golfing, traveling, sewing, and needlework. She was a member of Parkview United Methodist Church in Columbus, Ohio.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 am Saturday at the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, Lancaster, with Dr. Richard Riedel officiating. Burial will take place at 2:30 pm Saturday in the Alexander Cemetery, Athens, Ohio. Friends may visit from 6-8 pm Friday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made to Fairfield Medical Center Foundation, Palliative Unit, 401 N. Ewing Street, Lancaster, Ohio 43130.
