“A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance”
Kay was born to Frank & Kathleen Ayers in August 1941. She was welcomed home by her sister Susan and her brothers Tom, Raymond, Jerry and was there to welcome home her additional brothers Frank Jr, Verne, and Mike.
Kay graduated from Liberty Union High School as a member of the Class of 1959. It was there that she met Richard Springer. They were married shortly after graduation and have two children, Christopher & Daffney. Around 1969 they decided to leave Baltimore, first moving to Lancaster, then North Vernon IN and finally landing in Arlington TX in 1974. Kay & Richard separated a couple of years later.
Kay left her job as Office Manger at Pal Bumper Company after the separation to pursue a career with Pitney Bowes, first as a Sales Representative, and then as a Regional Manager with Pitney Bowes Credit Corporation.
Eventually, Kay met Donald Lenschow and remarried, making their home in Boyd TX and spent many wonderful years together. They were both very active in the North Texas Austin Healey Club, constantly travelling Texas and North America for road rallies and shows. They also loved RV-ing, fishing, and were members of the Fort Worth Magic Club. Kay also started quilting, continued to paint, and loved spending time with her grandchildren Blaine Springer and Madison Eckmann. And of course she continued to sing every day.
After Don’s death, Kay moved to Sun City Retirement Community near Georgetown TX. Here she could be active again in painting, quilting, dancing, and singing in local shows. These were very good days for Kay.
Kay is survived by the son Chris Springer & his wife Brenda, grandson Blaine Springer & his wife Kendall, great-grandchildren Eliza and Emric; daughter Daffeny Eckmann, & her husband Peter, granddaughter Madison, her brother Raymond Ayers, & his wife Margie, brother Jerry Ayers & his wife Sally, brother Frank Ayers & his wife Floran, brother Vern Ayers, brother Mike Ayers & his wife Carlene, and brother-in-law Victor Starkey along with many nieces & nephews. She loved you all greatly!
