Kayla Marie Bowers

Kayla Marie Bowers, age 21, of Sugar Grove, passed over the rainbow of life on Monday, December 12, 2022. She was born on December 18, 2000 in Columbus, OH.

Kayla was a 2019 graduate of Berne Union High School and Eastland Career Center. She was an avid Harry Potter fan, taking her Make-A-Wish trip to Universal Studios to experience Harry Potter to the fullest. Kayla was an active member of Camp Flame Catcher in Cincinnati. She participated in Special Olympics as part of the equestrian team for Fairfield County Special Olympics and was part of the Saving Grace Riding Center family with her coach Andrea Headley. Kayla loved riding her horse, Dixie, reading any book she could find, and most recently, writing. She  was the shining light in the lives of everyone who had the chance to know her and she was a loyal friend to everyone.

She is survived by her parents, Kelly (Eric) Irvin and Aaron (Megan) Bowers; sisters, Alexa Bowers and Paige Bowers; brothers, Chandler Irvin and AJ Bowers; grandparents,  Debby Keaton, Robert Bowers, Larry (Joan) Listebarger, and Rodney (Rhonda) Irvin; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal great-grandparents; grandmother, Karen Bowers; and aunt, Robbi Bowers.

The family will hold a small private service, and plan a larger Celebration of Life event at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kayla’s name to  the Epilepsy Alliance Ohio, the Ovarian Cancer Alliance of Ohio, or the James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute.
