Kellie Kumler, a beloved landscape architect and a vibrant spirit, passed away on September 2, 2025, at the age of 56. Born on June 29, 1969, in Lancaster, to the late Keith and Barbara Kumler, she blossomed into an extraordinary artist, weaving her love of nature into every garden and space she designed. Her creations were more than mere arrangements of plants; they were reflections of her deep passion for life, each bloom a testament to her skill and creativity.
A proud graduate of LHS in 1987 and OSU in 1992, Kellie's journey was characterized by an unwavering dedication to her craft and a profound appreciation for the natural world. She had the unique ability to see beauty where others might overlook it. This intuition extended beyond her landscapes; it penetrated her very being, as she honed in on the needs and desires of those she cared about, bringing joy through thoughtful gifts often discovered during her treasure hunts at thrift stores.
Kellie’s personality was a vibrant tapestry of warmth and enthusiasm. She was an outgoing force, radiating a smile that could light up the darkest room. Her toughness was not just about resilience but translated into a fierce kindness as she gifted carefully chosen items that embodied the essence of those in her life. The laughter she shared with friends, the bonds she forged—with family, with her four-legged companions Harley and Cat—these memories will forever echo in the hearts of many.
Kellie was also known for her culinary skills, crafting meals that catered specifically to individual preferences, showcasing her commitment to those she loved. Cooking was yet another canvas for her artistic expression, where flavors and colors intertwined to create both nourishment and joy.
She leaves behind her loving husband, Kurt Eden, as well as stepchildren Bryan Eden, Tyrell Eden (Brittney), and Jorden Eden (Shelbi). Her siblings, Keith Kumler (Kate), Kurt Kumler (Alice Wang), and Kim Devitt (Shay), along with several nieces and nephews, are also left with the cherished memories of her laughter and love. Kellie joins her parents, Keith A. and Barbara J. Kumler, in eternal rest, where their spirits will surely be united once more.
Kellie's legacy is one of creativity, compassion, and strength. Those who knew her will remember her not only for her beautiful landscapes but also for the light she brought into their lives—a true artist in every aspect of her being. Her life was a garden of love, and though she has departed, the beauty she cultivated will continue to bloom in the hearts of all whom she touched.
Caring Cremation has taken place through the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home. A memorial service will take place at a later date.
