Larry Edward Garlinger

Lancaster - Larry Edward Garlinger, 85, passed away at his residence on Saturday, October 18, 2025.

Larry was born in Lancaster, Ohio on October 8, 1940 to the late Madge and Ed Garlinger, he was their only child. Larry attended school in Carroll, Ohio, and lived with his parents “on the Coonpath”, for most of his childhood. After high school he worked briefly at Anchor Hocking and then attended barber school in Columbus. This began a very lengthy career as a barber/stylist and shop owner in Lancaster. Larry was proud of his long career in the barber business, as well as his years of volunteering for the Sherman House and Keller Market. He loved his friends and clients. Larry was very quick with a joke to tell on any subject raised. He was very much adored by his wife Michelle and his kids, grandkids, friends and acquaintances.

Larry married Michelle (Moyer) Garlinger, on his 50th birthday, and they recently celebrated 35 years of marriage.

Larry is survived by his wife Michelle Garlinger; children Tony (Dianne) Garlinger and Elisa Dowdy; step-children Joel (Megan) Hoover and Erin (Kelly) Rienschield; grandchildren Sarah Garlinger, Sam Garlinger, and Grace (Adrian) Sells; step-grandchildren Joel David Hoover, Cassidy Frey, Mason Newell, Chance Newell, Jackson (Erin) Rienschield, Matt (Taylor) Clouston, and Zach Clouston; great grandchild T.J. Clouston; brothers-in-law Bill Moyer, Chris Moyer, Jon (Joyce) Moyer, Tad (Kara) Moyer, and Marc Moyer; and sister-in-law Betsy (Dan) Alt.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents; and sister-in-law Jada Spangler.
