Lancaster

With hearts full of sorrow, the family would like to announce Lois Joan Ten Eyck, 96, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2026 at Primrose Retirement Community in Lancaster Ohio with her family at her side. She was born in Indianapolis Indiana on July 14, 1930 to Herbert and Alice Vogelsang.

Lois had many hobbies she enjoyed including gardening, cooking, dinner parties, collecting art, giving gifts, traveling, toddy time, feeding her birds and spending time with her many beloved pets. Her cat Mitzie was her companion for the last 20 years of her life. She always made the effort to be involved in her children, grandchildren and friends lives no matter how much distance separated them. She was truly the matriarch of her family. She led an extraordinary life and lived many places she loved including Huntington Beach California, Newport Beach California, Temecula California, Port Orford Oregon, Florence Oregon, Fallbrook California, and Port St. Lucie Florida.

She is survived by her children, Sandra Townsend (Terry) and Scott Parker (Erlinda), her grandchildren David Townsend (Margarita), Rachel Secrest (Ralph Sowers), Sarah Secrest, Jessica Hahn (Brandon), Kacie Sousa and Elliott Parker, her great grandchildren Jacob Kahrig, Caroline Taulbee, Charlotte Sousa and Maya Townsend, her sister Bonnie Williams and close friends Linda, Shirley, Steve, Margie and Judy. She was preceded in death by her husbands Bill Parker, Troy Miller and Fred Ten Eyck, her daughter Susan Secrest (Michael) and her brothers and sisters Walt, Virgil, Evelyn, Victor and Joyce and many close friends.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date in California at the Redwoods. We will always remember when 6 o’clock hits, it is time for Toddy time with Lois. And we will always remember her saying “Make it strong”.

The family would like to thank the staff and residents of Primrose Retirement Community of Lancaster and Summit Hospice for lovingly caring for Lois for her last few months of life. In lieu of flowers the family ask for donations be made to your local Humane Society to honor her great love for animals.
