Marilyn June Wooster, age 90, passed away on June 8, 2026, at the home of her son, Paul Wooster. Marilyn was born August 17, 1935, in the home of her parents, James L. and F. Delphia Landis. She attended Pickerington Schools through 3rd grade. In the 4th grade, Marilyn and her family moved to the Landis family farm outside of Baltimore. She enrolled in the Liberty Union School District where she met the love of her life and future husband, Paul L. Wooster.

While in high school, Marilyn was a varsity cheerleader, member of the Honor Society, and Prom Queen. She was a member of the cheerleading squad who penned the words to the song “Stand Up and Cheer” on the ride home from a ball game. It continues to be played by the Liberty Union band. Marilyn is a 1953 graduate of Liberty Union.

On September 11, 1953, Marilyn and Paul Wooster were married. At the time of her wedding, Marilyn was attending Capital University to become a teacher. Due to the teacher shortage in the 1950’s, Capital University offered a Teacher Cadet Program for Prospective Teachers. After earning the required credits, Marilyn was able to begin her teaching career at Liberty Union.

Along with her husband Paul, they raised 5 children. Marilyn continued her college course work while teaching. In the fall of 1973, she took a year long leave of absence to complete all of her course work. In May of 1974, she graduated Cum Laude from Capital University earning her Bachelor of Education Degree. Her high school principal, Robert Kalish, who was now the Fairfield County Superintendent of Schools, presented Marilyn with her diploma at a family celebration.

During her career, Marilyn taught grades K-1-2, and served as a Reading Recovery Specialist. In the latter part of her career, she team-taught first grade with Carolyn Barr. She spent half the day in the classroom and the other half working with students learning to read using the Reading Recovery methods. Marilyn taught at Liberty Union for 33 years. She was a dedicated teacher and touched many lives.

Marilyn was an avid reader, enjoyed playing bridge with close friends, flower gardening, planting milkweed for monarch butterflies, and collecting antiques. Marilyn and Paul devoted over 20 years to the research and restoration of their beloved Ridge Road Farm located on the Old Ridge Road, now known as State Route 256, on the outside of Baltimore.

Marilyn was a lifelong member of New Zion United Methodist Church.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; sons-in-law, Steven F. Miller and Timothy L. Leitnaker; her parents, James and Delphia Landis; her brother and his wife, Dave and Rosie Landis; mother and father-in-law, Kenneth and Evelyn Wooster, and sister-in-law, Dian King.
