Mary Lou Creed

Mary Lou Creed, 94, of Lancaster, Ohio, passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday, February 6, 2024, at Fairfield Medical Center. Mary Lou was born October 26, 1929, in Clarksburg, West Virginia to James and Glocie (Woofter) Taylor.

Mary Lou graduated from Lancaster High School in 1947. She then went to Nurse’s Training at Lancaster Hospital, now Fairfield Medical Center, and graduated in 1950 after becoming a Registered Nurse. Mary Lou worked at Fairfield Medical Center from 1951-1953, then worked for A.M. Kelley for a few years before going back to the hospital. She retired in June 2002. After her retirement, Mary Lou traveled throughout the United States and even outside of the United States. Her favorite place to visit was Orcacoke, North Carolina. She enjoyed the beach. Mary Lou also volunteered at Fairfield Medical Center for many years after her retirement, she had over 3,000 hours of volunteer work under her belt. She was a member of 2 card groups and active with women of her condo association at Meadow Ridge. 

Mary Lou is survived by her children, Beverly (Steve) Kenney and Scott Creed; grandchildren, Bryson (Arissa) Creed, Taylor (Jared) Schaaf, Rian (Cody) Tarman, and Kaleigh (Luke Grice) Kenney; great-grandchildren, Leighton and Emma Tarman, Maren Schaaf and one due in March, Iris Grice; niece and nephew, Chana Stocke and Frank Creed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Glocie; her husband, James B. Creed; a brother, Albert Taylor; nephew, Greg Taylor and special friends, Pat and Dutch Metzger. 

Per Mary Lou's wishes, Caring Cremation® has taken place.

A memorial service will take place Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at 1:00 PM at the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home. Friends and family may visit from 11:00 AM to the time of the service.
