Mary E. Cumberland

Mary E. Cumberland, 77, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.

Mary was born in Lancaster, Ohio on August 2, 1948 to the late Carl and Anna Kathryn (Alten) McClellan. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic School, from 1st - 7th grade, Thomas Ewing Junior High School, and graduated from Lancaster High School.

Mary loved all animals. She had many horses growing up on the farm as well as birds, cows, and pigs. Mary was a member of the FFA and 4-H. She bred and showed Yorkshire Terriers, and even showed them at the Westminster Dog Kennel Club Show in New York.

Mary is survived by her husband of 45 years Jeffrey C. Cumberland; daughter Sonya Rhymer; son Shawn Nixon; grandchildren Taylor (Curtis) Phillips and Dylon Rhymer; great grandchildren Raymond, Carter, Stephen, and Isaac Phillips; sister-in-law Lee Ann McClellan; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and brothers Don, John, and Bill McClellan.

Caring Cremation® has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
