Mary M. Ricker, a beloved figure in the Lancaster community, has passed away at the age of 84 on February 6, 2024. Born on March 16, 1939, in Columbus, Ohio, Mary was a beacon of love and kindness throughout her life. Her passing took place at the Altercare of Zanesville.
Mary dedicated a significant portion of her life to serving others. She was a member of St Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church helping when needed. She worked tirelessly as a school bus driver for the Lancaster city schools for over 17 years before retiring. The children she transported always felt safe and cared for under her watchful eye. Additionally, Mary contributed 18 years to the Kmart Distribution center, where she made lasting friendships with her colleagues until her retirement.
Beyond her professional achievements, Mary had a deep passion for reading books. She found solace and joy within the pages of countless stories and literature. Her commitment to expanding her knowledge through reading exemplified her thirst for personal growth.
Sadly, Mary lost a courageous battle with cancer. Despite the challenges she faced during her illness, she never lost her spirit or faith in life's beauty. Even in trying times, Mary remained an example of strength and resilience to all those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Mary cherished her family above all else and considered them to be her proudest accomplishment. She is survived by her loving husband Bill R. Ricker; parents Harold and Ethel Allen; brothers Richard, Jack, and Bill Allen; and daughters-in-law Sheri and Stella Ricker.
Her memory will forever live on through her devoted sons: Richard (Joy) Ricker, Keith Alan Ricker, and Harold C. Ricker; as well as her caring daughter Sheryl Phillips. Mary's influence extends beyond immediate family members with 30 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who will carry forth her legacy of love.
Mary M. Ricker touched numerous lives during her time with us. Her unwavering love, compassion, and dedication to her family and community will forever be remembered. As we mourn her passing, let us also celebrate the remarkable life she lived and the lasting impact she made.
