Mary Ellen Reedy

Mary Ellen (Conrad) Reedy, age 88, of Lancaster, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2026.

Mary was born on Monday, July 12, 1937, in Lancaster, Ohio, to William Henry Lee, Sr. and Lila Rose (Cly) Conrad. She grew up in Lancaster, and after graduating from the Lancaster High School, Class of 1955, she went on to earn her bachelor’s degree and master’s in teaching and taught at West School for 31 years.

Mary enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, and spending time with her family. She avidly watched her old western television shows and never missed an episode of Gunsmoke, or a movie with John Wayne. She is greatly missed by her family.

Mary is survived by her son, Jack Lee (Jen) Reedy, Jr.; grandchildren, Jennifer (Fred) Zwayer, Sebastian Henner (Brandon), Julia (Joseph) McFarland, and Jamie (Treg) Thomas; seven great-grandchildren, Audrey, Hunter, Lexy, Owen, & Jake McFarland, and Brecken & Brinley Thomas; brother-in-law, Willis Wagner; sister-in-law, Helen Conrad; nephews, Terry (Ruth) Conrad and Jeff Conrad; nieces, Barbara, Pamela, and Wendy (Cockrell) Niehauser, and many other family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Henry Lee, Sr. and Lila Rose (Cly) Conrad; husband, Jack Lee Reedy, Sr.; brothers, Bill Conrad, Bob (Fern) Conrad, Francis Conrad, Joe Conrad, and Gary Conrad; sisters, Patricia Conrad and Carolyn Wagner; brother-in-law, Michael “Mike” Cockrell.

The visitation will be held on Monday, July 13th from 4 pm to 6 pm at Frank E. Smith Funeral Home located at 405 N. Columbus Street in Lancaster. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 14th at 11 am at Frank E. Smith Funeral Home with the burial immediately following at Forest Rose Cemetery.
