It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loving husband, son, and brother. Max passed away Sunday, November 2, 2025 after an extended illness at home cared for by his devoted wife of 27 years, Helen.

In life Max was known for his sense of humor, and his passion for experimenting with hydrogen and free energy. He found joy in nature, riding his motorcycle, raising his pasture pigs, exotic chickens, and fainting goats. He loved building and creating things for his mini farm and always had many construction projects going on.

Max liked to travel and be absorbed into the culture and landscapes. He especially liked the Philippines, where he met and married his wife. Max was fascinated by Lanzhou China, where he was an English teacher. He would often joke about having a China drivers license, riding his motorcycle there where he met many frustrated but polite policemen. Max enjoyed meeting new people, finding new interests, and sharing his knowledge with others; it made his world go round.

He was employed by Fox Steel Lancaster LLC as an iron worker. Under the name Iron Dragon, Max crafted many iron works throughout Ohio cities. You might have even sat on one of his metal benches or seen his works of art and not known it.

Max is survived by his wife Helen; mother Yvonne (Williams) Miller; brothers Jim Miller and Robert Miller and sister Janice (Robert) Minnard all of the Lancaster area; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father Raymond L. Miller; and brother Jerry Miller.

Family and friends may visit Thursday, November 6, 2025 from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 at the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home, 405 N. Columbus St. Lancaster, OH 43130. A funeral service will be Friday, November 7, 2025 at 10:30 in the funeral home. Burial to follow in St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery.
