Ray Steven “Steve” Hayden, 69, of Lancaster, passed away at LanFair Nursing Home on Friday, February 20, 2026, with loved ones by his side. He was born on August 3, 1956, to the late Ray Edwin Hayden and Josephine Muck.

Steve enjoyed taking care of his cats, completing scratch-off tickets, and riding his electric bike. He lived with his mom, Josephine, for 9 years until she passed in 2024, at the age of 94. Steve absolutely loved hanging out with his best friend, Melvin Sowers, with whom he had the privilege of being friends for 11 years. Steve was a supervisor for Lancaster Poultry for several years and worked with Melvin’s twin brother, Marvin.

Steve is survived by his sisters, Sharon (John) Mongold, Patricia (William) Doughman, and Kathleen Allen, several nieces and nephews, and best friends, Melvin and Marvin Sowers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Josephine, and brother, Roy Hayden.

Per Steve’s wishes, Caring Cremation® has taken place. His cremated remains will be buried with his family at Forest Rose Cemetery at a later date.
