Ralph E. "Gene" Shaffer

Ralph E. “Gene” Shaffer, 86, of Lancaster, passed away on August 9, 2025 at his home. He was born to the late Jess and Gertrude (Frank) Shaffer on June 1, 1938.

Gene was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force for over 21 years and was stationed in Vietnam and Korea. He enjoyed mowing, recycling, and working on aircraft, cars and trucks.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Shaffer; children, Mike Shaffer, Paula (Tim) Allen, Angie (Donnie) Spangler, and Matt (Kaylie) Shaffer; thirteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren; and sever nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings.

A funeral service will take place on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at 12 PM in the Lancaster Pilgrim Church, 1140 Pierce Ave, Lancaster, OH 43130. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery. Family and friends may visit from 4-8 PM on Wednesday at the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home, 405 N Columbus St., Lancaster, OH 43130.
