Robert "BJ" Getz

Robert ‘BJ” Getz 70 of Somerset, Ohio passed away unexpectedly at his home snuggling his Nanner. He was born on December 24, 1953 in Lancaster, Ohio to the late Robert and Delma Loretta Getz.

He served his country by being the US Army and later was the managing custodian for Lancaster City School District where he retired. 

BJ loved the water, kayaking, canoeing, nature and loved watching birds and squirrels and feeding them. He enjoyed talking about the various tree species and wood whittling. 

BJ is survived by his fiancé, Nanette Derflinger; daughter, Taylr Getz of Lancaster; step-son, Fred (Marie) Derflinger of Westerville; step-daughters, Lilly Derfinger of Lakewood and Chloe (Allen) Pyles of Lancaster; grandchildren, Nora Daniels, Emma, Gavin, Isaac, and Keaton Pyles; sister, Barbara Wright of Dublin; brother, brother, Jeff Getz of Lancaster; nieces, Shawna (Rick) Schilling of Dublin and Ruby Roberts of Virginia; nephew, Matt Getz of Lancaster; great  nieces and nephew, Corrina and Alex Schilling and Scarlett Roberts and his fur babies, Baby and Genji.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, William Getz.

Caring Cremation® has taken place by the FRANK E. SMITH FUNERAL HOME, LANCASTER, OHIO.  He was an organ donor through Life Line of Ohio.
