Robert Sexton, a man whose warmth and kindness touched many hearts, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2026, at Bickford of Bexley. Born on March 24, 1936, in Garett, Kentucky, Robert led a life marked by dedication, warmth, and a deep love for community and family.
Robert’s career showcased his strong work ethic and skill as he retired as a machinist from Rockwell Industries. Even in retirement, his commitment to service continued as he worked part-time for Worthington and the Pickerington schools, remaining active and engaged with those around him. Yet, it was his lively spirit, sociable nature, and kindness that made him truly unforgettable.
At Bickford of Bexley, Robert embraced the joy of community life. He socialized eagerly, bringing smiles to many as he enthusiastically joined in bingo games, participated in the garden club, and amazed those around him with his karaoke talents. The social connections and camaraderie he found there were sources of great happiness in his later years, underscoring his love for people and friendship.
Beyond his social activities, Robert cherished the outdoors. He loved to fish and spent joyful hours surrounded by nature’s beauty. A talented sportsman, he bowled a perfect 300 and was proud of his hole-in-one, for which he won a gold tournament trophy all testaments to his vibrant, active lifestyle and zest for life.
Above all, Robert’s proudest accomplishment was his deep love for his family. He is survived by his children, Robert Nyle Sexton (Nancy), Vicki Lynn Justice (Doug), and Robin Sexton Francisco (Dan O’Reilly). His legacy is carried forward by eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, each a living testament to the love and foundation he helped nurture. Robert’s bond with family extended richly to his siblings Larry D. Sexton, Sandra F. Calhoun, Linda K. Stewart (Rodger), and Melody Adkins (Mike).
The memory of his loving wife of 32 years, Jeri R. Shepard Sexton, who passed away on February 11, 2025, remained honored in his heart. They shared a marriage that began on October 10, 1987, built on mutual love and companionship. Robert was also predeceased by his parents, Edgel Sexton and Mahala Martin Sexton; siblings Mysta S. Hendrickson and Green W. Sexton (Patty); and brother-in-law Don Calhoun.
Robert Sexton’s life was a beautiful tapestry woven with threads of kindness, community, family, and joyful engagement with life. He was a devoted member at Gender Rd. Christian Church where his faith shone through. He will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege to know him. He was a man who lived with heart and soul, embracing every moment with warmth and generosity. Those wishing to pay their respects may attend visitation on June 13, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service, officiated by Rev.
