Roger E Jeffers

Roger E. Jeffers, age 81, of Lancaster,OH formerly of Modesto, California, passed away on August 22, 2026, at Altercare Somerset.

Roger was born in Lancaster, Ohio, on May 16, 1945, to the late John C. and Edith V. Kesterson Jeffers.

While living in California, Roger owned and operated Edith’s Gourmet Cookie Company. A true entrepreneur ahead of his time, he began making health-food bars long before they became popular. Roger and his brother Bill traveled throughout the western United States selling cookies and other products, building a business through hard work, determination, and their close partnership.

Roger was a generous man who appreciated the finer things in life and especially enjoyed owning a nice car. Above all else, however, he believed that family was everything. He treasured being surrounded by those he loved and was always willing to share what he had with others.

Roger and his brother Bill shared an especially close relationship. They lived together for two years before Roger became a resident of Altercare Somerset. Their time together and the many memories they made throughout their lives remained very meaningful to Roger.

He is survived by his brothers, Bill Jeffers, James Jeffers, Donald (Debra) Jeffers, and Frederick Jeffers; his sister, Mabel Arnold; and several nieces and nephews, Daniel Guseman, Doug Guseman, Sandy Seeger, Sherry Giles, John Jeffers, Jay Jeffers, Larry Sterling, Rick Sterling, Cheryl Hardy, Bill Arnold, Ann Arnold, Jason Jeffers, extended family members, and friends.

In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Charlotte V. (David) Guseman; his brother, John F. (Betty) Jeffers; and his brother-in-law, Billy Arnold, and niece Cindy Storts, and Ryan Jeffers.

Roger’s generosity, entrepreneurial spirit, and devotion to his family will be fondly remembered. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Caring Cremation® has taken place through the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home. Roger will be laid to rest at a later date at Maple Grove Cemetery.
