Roger Dean Thompson went to his heavenly home on Saturday, December 31, 2022 surrounded by his five loving daughters. Born October 10, 1952 to Joseph and Anna Glendine (McDowell) Thompson in Ashland, Kentucky.
Roger leaves behind his daughters Tina Leising, Tracy Thompson, Tricia (Jim) Barber, Tiffany Thompson, and Teresa Thompson. Grandchildren Andrew “AJ”, Emma, Tyler (Breanna), Justin (Claudia), Mackenzie, Kyla, Kara, Kamille, Haylee, Madysen, Cayden, and Ava. Great-grandchildren Aspen, Cash, Walker, and Aurora. Brothers Bernie (Patty) Rickman, William Joseph “Billy Jo” Thompson, Jon Thompson, Jack (Pam) Thompson, and sister Teresa Thompson. Many nieces and nephews. His special friend “The Lady in Red”.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Russell and James Thompson.
Roger worked at Lancaster Glass for many years. He retired after 30 years as a steelworker from Kaiser Aluminum. Not only was he a dedicated worker, he had many hobbies including building model cars, model airplanes, and train sets. He also had a love for NASCAR and music.
Roger was an honorable and compassionate man. He received The Fairfield County Sheriff’s Life Saving Award for pulling a man from a burning car in 1993.
He enjoyed telling jokes and making people laugh. He will be greatly missed by us all but has found peace in his Lord and Savior Jesus.
Friends and family can visit Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Frank E. Smith Funeral Home, 405 N. Columbus St. Lancaster, Ohio, from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. and 2 p.m.-3 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 3 p.m. Caring Cremation® will follow.
A Celebration of Life will be held at The Mill Event Center, 431 S. Columbus St., Lancaster, Ohio at 4:00 p.m.
