Ronald Lee Mills of Lancaster, Ohio, 83, passed away surrounded by his family at Fairfield Medical Center on May 27, 2026. Ron was born to the late Ruth B. (Blank) Mills and Earl J. Mills on March 20, 1943.

Ron graduated from Lancaster High School in 1963 and began working at Anchor Hocking Glass Company. Ron then decided to serve his country and enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1966. He served as a helicopter mechanic and received an Honorable Discharge in 1970. During his time in the Air Force, Ron met Mary Jane Burnette. After writing letters and sending reel-to-reel tape messages, Ron asked Mary to be his wife. Ron and Mary married on March 30, 1969. Ron enjoyed watching the Ohio State Buckeyes and Cincinnati Reds play. Above all, Ron fiercely loved his family.

Ron made a decision in 1975 to make Jesus the Lord of his life. He had a desire to see his family in church, and eventually, the family began attending Faith Memorial Church in Lancaster. Ron truly had a heart to see others come to know and love Jesus and participated in the thriving bus ministry at Faith Memorial Church during the 80’s and 90’s. He was faithful to knock on doors and visit with families to encourage them to get their kids to church. He drove the church bus for almost 20 years, picking up kids, families, and providing transportation for senior citizens. Ron was a friendly face and was so wonderful to share good news with, as he always expressed wide eyes and an enthusiastic response. During his retirement years, he chose to use his gift of hospitality to greet church attendees at the door and make them feel welcome. He was faithful to greet and be an usher at the church for close to 30 years.

Ron is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary; daughters, Lora (Heath) Jenkins of Bidwell, Ohio, Lisa (Jason) Scott of Lancaster, Ohio; grandchildren, Matt (Miranda) Jenkins, Morgan (Eric) Shaner, Noah (Madeline) Jenkins, Owen Scott, and Sarah Scott; great grandchildren, Eden Jenkins, Ember Jenkins, Lois Shaner, Leo Shaner, Luca Jenkins. Ron is survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Dennis E. Mills.

A funeral service for Ron will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at 1 pm at Faith Memorial Church, 2610 W. Fair Avenue, Lancaster, OH, and will be officiated by Pastor Jonathan Morgan and Pastor Mel Truex. Friends and family may visit from 11 am until the time of the service. Burial will follow the service at Floral Hills Memory Gardens with military honors performed by the Lancaster Burial Detail.
