Russell William "Bill" Eccard

Russell William “Bill” Eccard, 88, of Lancaster, Ohio, passed away on August 21, 2026, peacefully in his home. Born on February 17, 1938, at home in Washington Township, Circleville, Ohio, the son of the late Russell Calvin and Alice Bowers Eccard. He was also predeceased by his son, Michael, and his two sisters, Mary E. Evans and Jo Ann Gilbert.

He was the devoted husband of Phyllis McFee Eccard, his loving wife of 66 years, who survives him; his son Bryan (Kim) Eccard of Pleasantville, Ohio; daughter-in-law Rebecca Eccard of Lancaster, Ohio; four grandchildren and their spouses - Lindsay (Chris) Davis of Lancaster, Ohio; Chelsea (Andy) Gerschutz of New Bavaria, Ohio; Cody (Lexi) Eccard of Pleasantville, Ohio; and Hannah (Aaron) Howes, of Amanda, Ohio; great-grandchildren – LauraJane Davis, Riley Davis, Ryder Davis, Creed Gerschutz, Nash Gerschutz, Bentley Eccard, Barrett Eccard, Duke Howes, Denver Howes and Becca Grace Howes; very special brother-in-law, Raymond McFee; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Bill was a 1956 graduate of Walnut Township High School, Ashville, Ohio. He was employed by Columbus Southern Power/American Electric Power for 42 years, retiring in 2000. Bill enjoyed his work and looked forward to the NASCAR season each year. He was a member of The Quarter-of-the-Century Club of Columbus & Southern Ohio Electric Company.

Bill was a hardworking, solid-as-a-rock kind of man who loved his family and his Lord. He could always be counted on to be there, steadfast and true. If you couldn’t “get along” with Bill, you couldn’t “get along” with anybody. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
