October 3, 2026, heaven gained a “firecracker” and a “gem”. SallyAnn Florence Haase, 84, from Lancaster, Ohio, passed away peacefully at Pickering House in Lancaster, with her husband, William Haase, by her side. SallyAnn was born March 13, 1942 in Baraboo, Wisconsin to Gladys and Albert Jeffries. She was a six year survivor of a severe stroke and she fought valiantly to the very end to recover.
SallyAnn is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, William H. Haase. They met their freshman year of college at University of Wisconsin-Stout, and have been together ever since. She is also survived by daughters Kristen Campbell (Charles) of Granville, Ohio, Karyn Hawkins (Ross) of Tampa, Florida, and four grand children, Ally Campbell of Clermont, Florida, Anna Campbell of Chicago, Illinois, Elliot Woolliscroft and Connor Woolliscroft both of Tampa, Florida, and her brother, Raymond Jeffries (Claire), of Maryland.
SallyAnn will always be remembered for her positive “can do” attitude, her big welcoming smile, fun and sassy sense of humor, joyful presence and her gifted ability to organize and include the people around her in a positive and welcoming way. Before settling down in Lancaster over 30 years ago, she and William lived in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Connecticut, Michigan and Massachusetts. She made many friends everywhere she went. Her biggest love and joy came from spending time with her grandchildren. She attended many soccer games in Florida watching her grandsons play and she attended numerous musicals, choir and band concerts for her granddaughters. SallyAnn attended First Presbyterian Church, Lancaster, Ohio where she loved to sing in the choir, play the handbells and participate in church life. For over 25 years, SallyAnn worked in the billing department at Fairfield Medical Center and volunteered in ticket sales for the Lancaster Music Festival. She and Bill hosted 3 musicians (their summer daughters) every year for over 25 years. SallyAnn loved and cherished her time as a member of the Froebel Study Club and P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization) both in Lancaster, Ohio.
We may never know this side of heaven the full impact that SallyAnn had on the people around her. In the Bible, her favorite passages were “The Sermon on the Mount”, specifically Matthew 6:3 “But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing.” Her family would welcome knowing any “SallyAnn” stories that have yet to be revealed regarding this part of her journey on earth. (She kept it quiet.)
A “Celebration of Life” will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2026 at First Presbyterian Church, 222 N Broad Street, Lancaster, OH 43130 from 1-4 PM in the Heritage Room.
Arrangements were handled by the Frank E. Smith Funeral Home, Lancaster, Ohio.
